Your Curls Deserve a Stylist Who Truly Gets It
At Eco Hair Studio in Claremont, we specialise in curly haircuts that work with your natural curl pattern — not against it. Whether you're a 2A wave or a 4C coil, your curls deserve a cut tailored exactly to them.
What Is a Curly Haircut in Perth?
A curly haircut isn't just a regular cut done on curly hair. It's a specialised technique where each curl is cut dry, curl-by-curl, to honour your hair's unique texture, spring factor, and movement. No two curl patterns are the same — and your cut shouldn't be either.
- Cut dry, not wet — we see exactly how your curls fall naturally before a single snip
- Curl-by-curl shaping — every section is assessed individually for length and shape
- Removes weight without losing length — lifts your roots and enhances definition
- Long-lasting shape — grows out beautifully over months, not weeks
Why Perth Curl Clients Come Back to Us
We don't just cut curly hair — we specialise in it. Every stylist on our team has trained specifically in curl-cutting techniques and continues to upskill. When you sit in our chair, you're with someone who has genuinely spent years understanding curl science, shrinkage, and how different textures behave.
01
Curl-Dedicated Stylists
Our team holds specialised training in curly and textured hair techniques. No guesswork — just genuine expertise developed over years of working exclusively with waves, curls, and coils.
02
We Listen First, Cut Second
Every appointment begins with a thorough consultation. We ask about your routine, your frustrations, and your goals before we ever touch your hair. Understanding you comes before anything else.
03
Eco-Conscious Products Only
We use premium, curl-friendly products from Aveda and O&M — brands that care about what goes on your hair and into the environment. No harsh sulfates, no unnecessary chemicals.
04
Perth's Unique Climate in Mind
Perth's warm, dry climate affects how curls behave. We account for local humidity levels, UV exposure, and seasonal changes when recommending cuts and care routines for you.
05
All Curl Types Welcome
From barely-there 2A waves to tight 4C coils, we work with the full spectrum of curl patterns. No curl type is "too difficult" — every texture gets the same level of care and skill.
06
Education Is Part of the Service
You leave with a personalised routine, not just a great cut. We'll show you how to maintain your curls at home, which products to use, and how to get the best out of your hair day after day.
We Work With Every Curl Pattern
Whether your hair falls in loose, romantic waves or tight, springy coils, our stylists are trained to work with your specific curl type. Here's a breakdown of the curl patterns we specialise in.
Wavy Hair
Type 2A – 2C
Loose, flowing waves that benefit from a lightweight cut that removes bulk without losing softness. We enhance natural movement and reduce the tendency to go flat or frizzy.
Loose Curls
Type 3A
Beautiful, springy curls that respond well to layering and volume work. We shape these curls to bounce freely without triangle-shaped silhouettes or unwanted width.
Defined Curls
Type 3B – 3C
Tighter, more defined curl clusters that need careful weight removal and shape. Our stylists understand how to create definition without making the cut feel choppy or uneven.
Coily Hair
Type 4A – 4C
Tight coils and kinks with incredible shrinkage that require experience to cut accurately. We work with your natural pattern to create a shape that expands beautifully as it grows.
Your Curly Haircut Experience
From the moment you book to the moment you walk out, every step is designed to make you feel confident, cared for, and educated about your own hair.
In-Depth Curl Consultation
We start by understanding your hair history, current routine, and what you love (and hate) about your curls. This shapes every decision we make during your appointment.
Dry Curl Assessment & Cut
Your curls are assessed and cut dry, so we can see exactly how your natural pattern falls. Each curl is shaped individually for a result that looks intentional and effortlessly natural.
Wash, Define & Style
We finish with a curl-friendly cleanse and conditioning treatment, then style your curls using products suited to your texture. You leave knowing how to recreate this at home.
More Than a Haircut — It's Curl Care
We've built our reputation in Perth by genuinely caring about curly hair. Here's what sets us apart from a general-purpose salon.
Specialist Curl Cutting Techniques
We practise DevaCut-inspired and curl-by-curl methods that honour your natural texture. No straight-line cuts on curly hair — every snip is deliberate.
Clean, Curl-Safe Products
We only use sulfate-free, silicone-free products that won't disrupt your curl pattern or strip your hair of moisture. What we put in your hair matters to us.
Take-Home Curl Routine
Every client leaves with personalised product recommendations and a simple, realistic home routine. We want your curls to look great on day five, not just the day you leave the salon.
A Relaxed, Welcoming Space
No judgment, no rushing. Our Claremont studio is a calm, comfortable space where you can ask every question you've ever had about your curls and actually get a helpful answer.
Trusted by Perth Curl Community
We've built a loyal following among Perth's curly hair community through consistency, genuine results, and a reputation for doing what we say we'll do.
Grows Out Beautifully
A well-executed curly haircut doesn't just look great on the day — it should grow out gracefully over months, maintaining its shape as your hair gets longer.

Should I come in with my hair washed and dried, or can I come with wet hair?
We recommend coming in with your hair as it naturally dries — no blowdrying, no straightening, and ideally washed the day before so it's clean but settled. This lets us see your true curl pattern and cut accordingly. If that's not possible, we can wash your hair at the salon as part of your appointment.
How often do I need to get a curly haircut?
Most curly-haired clients come in every 3–5 months. Because curly cuts are designed to grow out gracefully, you don't need to visit as frequently as you might with a straight hair cut. Your stylist will give you a personal recommendation based on your curl type and how fast your hair grows.
I've never had a proper curly haircut before. What can I expect?
Welcome to the curl family! Your first appointment will feel different from any haircut you've had before. We'll start with a proper consultation, cut your hair dry, and walk you through everything we're doing and why. Most first-timers leave feeling like they've finally unlocked their hair's potential — it can be genuinely emotional in the best way.
Can you work with hair that's been colour-treated or chemically processed?
Yes, absolutely. Coloured or processed curly hair just requires a little extra consideration, which is why our consultation is so thorough. We'll assess the current condition of your hair and adjust our approach — including product choices — to ensure we protect the health of your curls while delivering a great cut.
My curls are really frizzy. Can a curly haircut actually help?
Frizz is one of the most common concerns we hear, and a proper curly cut makes a significant difference. A lot of frizz is caused by weight imbalance, damaged ends, and the wrong products. We address all three — the cut removes damaged weight, the products we use lock in moisture, and your personalised routine helps you manage frizz at home day to day.
Do you offer curly hair treatments alongside the haircut?
Yes. We offer a range of in-salon treatments, including deep conditioning, protein treatments, and our popular Nanoplasty smoothing treatment for those who want more manageable curls without fully removing their natural wave. Ask us about treatment options when you book.
